Why sleep is important

Our sleep has three main stages: light sleep, deep sleep and dream sleep. It’s deep sleep that mostly heals our body and is most refreshing.

Have you ever observed that if you wake up by alarm sometimes it is too painful to just stop it and get out of bed? It is because we sleep in approximately 90 minutes cycles and if alarm rings during deep sleep it going to hurt.

If you really want to use alarm then set it in intervals of 90 minutes. For e.g. if you usually go to bed at 10 p.m. then set the alarm for 5:30 a.m. instead of 6 or 6:30 a.m. You will feel more refreshed at 5:30 (a multiple of 90 minutes) than compared to a later time.

For more information on how to get better at sleep I recommend the book “Sleep Secrets” by Ronald M. Bazar
