Listening entails ears and heart

I believe listening is a skill that you must learn. This skill is imperative to your success in life.

Our minds can be compared to cups partially filled with water. If the cup is full any more water that’s poured to it spills. Similarly we must empty our minds at least a bit so as to listen to someone. Otherwise it’s not called listening, it’s called ignoring.

It must have happened to you that when someone was talking to you, instead of listening you were actually thinking what will you say next. I call this a disaster of communication. When someone talks to you, you must relinquish your thinking and just listen.

Our minds work faster than any supercomputer. When that person finishes talk you can then process that info and come up with answer within fraction of a second. In that case your answer will be relevant. But if you were thinking while the other person was talking your answer won’t be spontaneous and it will be irrelevant to what that person said, resulting in dissatisfaction and non-understanding.
